Fried Yong Tou Fu with XO Sauce

Try this, it is a easy to prepared and delicious dish, goes well with a bowl of steaming rice or porridge.. and my favourite chilli.. yummy!

Just lightly deep fry the yong tou fu items and leave aside, then fry some garlic in oil, add xo sauce, oyster sauce and a little water, pour cooked gravy over the yong tou fu. You can try using black bean paste instead of xo sauce too.

Roast Chicken Salad

I was feeling like having salad for dinner one day, and came up with this Roast Chicken salad served with Japanese dressing.

Actually, I cheated, I bought lettuces and black pepper roast chicken thighs from Cold Storage... and simply put them together, topped with some walnuts I managed to extract from my box of Banana nut crunch cereals. I wonder if I could still label this as Home Cook Meals.. hehe...

Chicken Mushroom on Chyesim

One of my specialty is to use whatever we have in the fridge, and cook them into one-pot, or one bowl... this one turns out pretty well, I have chyesim, oyster mushrooms and a chicken thigh. This is what I did.

Season chicken with oystersauce and cornstarch

Add a little oil and salt to a pot of boiling water, boil chyesim till cooked and set side

In a wok, fry garlic in oil, add chicken, abit of chinese wine, fry till cooked

Add mushroom, oystersauce and water, boil for another 2mins

Pour chicken and mushroom gravy over cooked chyesim

What is Miso?

Ning is a soup lover, she can sipped dry a bowl of any soup, anytime. As we dun have freshly brewed soup everyday, I turn to Miso paste for a quick and healthy alternative. Ning's daddy just brought back a tub of miso paste from Japan and I've explored a few recipes with it.

Fish Porridge

This is an easy fish porridge I always cook for ning, and its also what eden had fail to achieve after 6 months. sometimes I have to discard the whole little pot of porridge she cooked cos its too dry for ning, you can turn the pot of porridge upside down and the porridge still stays in the pot...

Last Dinner

We have decided to send Eden back to the maid agency after her being 6 months with us, she wasn't really shock when I told her to pack up on the day of her departure.

I wanted to list out here the reasons why we have to send her back, but the list will be too long and i may seem like a fussy gossiping employer..

Her last dinner I cooked.. hope she had enjoyed..

btw, she can't cook us a decent meal, I always does the cooking.. haha.. die die must gossip about her.

Raisins & Dried Pinapple Rice

Inspired by Zu's Kitchen Raisins & Dried Mango Rice. I created this raisins & dried pinapple rice as I still have a few packets of dried pinapples from my CNY cookies baking.
I soaked the dried pinapples for a while to soften it. With sliced chicken, rasins and diced celery, this is rice is easy to prepare, tasty and refreshing. Must try hor...

What's this called?

The auntie selling vegie keep asking me to buy this, i've never cook this before, dun know what its good for and how it taste like, i dun even know how does it looks like inside.. (shd have taken a shot when i halfed it). Eden said she cooked this in Philippines, said it taste like papaya, she used to cook this with eggs. Seems like they'd cook everything with eggs in Philippines, she would cook sardine with eggs, miced chicken with eggs, eggplant with eggs..

I stir-fried it with mushroom, shrimp, chicken (whatever i can find from my fridge) and oyster sauce. It doesn't have a strong taste on its own, light and abit crunchy like cucumber. i like it, Ning's daddy dun mind it too, will try making soup with this next time.

So... what exactly is this called?

Here's what my friend found for me... 佛手瓜. Thanks Karen!
